YOU helped make great things happen at Mission Outreach this year!

Opportunities to positively impact the lives of others will continue throughout 2009.

What's happening next?

On February 1st, Super Bowl Sunday, our local churches, youth groups, schools and service organizations are invited to be part of Souper Bowl of Caring. This national movement was begun in 1988 by a simple prayer spoken by a pastor: "Lord, as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us be mindful of those who are without a bowl of soup to eat."

Visit www.souperbowl.org  to see many of the resources available to mobilize and inspire our youth to fight hunger and poverty in our local community. Then contact Cathy at 236.8080 or chughes@missionoutreachnea.com to discuss ways you and your group can get involved!

 It's not just another chili cook-off . . .

It's a Chili Rodeo!

Dust off that old cowboy hat and hitch up your wranglers for some chili cooking and tasting, mechanical bull riding, line dancing, and karaoke singing to help raise funds for the homeless and hungry in Greene County and Northeast Arkansas .

On Saturday, February 21, 2009 from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the B.C. Loyd Building at the Greene County Fairgrounds, the entire family will enjoy good food, music, fun and fellowship and help raise funds for Mission Outreach of Northeast Arkansas.

The competition will be fierce but fun. For information on how you can participate as a contestant, sponsor or contact Heather at hparson@missionoutreachnea.com or 236.8080

 SOS Scoop

Thanks so much to All Saints' Episcopal Church for hosting our December SOS (Soup or Salad) Luncheon. We appreciate all who were able to attend, and many of you who couldn't - our new take out containers really came in handy! January's SOS will be at First United Methodist Church on January 19th. Mark your calendar now!

You are invited to dine with us.

Several groups participated in the Common Table in 2008, and some are already calling to schedule dates for 2009. We look forward to your involvement in the coming months. This project is truly an opportunity for hands on ministry at the mission, so plan to participate next year. Don’t miss this blessing! Call Cathy 236.8080 for additional information.

Did you know?

We have received over 875 coats and jackets since the Warm Coat drive began. Thank you for your response to this need in our community!

Thank you again for your support of Mission Outreach . . .

We wish you and yours a blessed New Year!
