There are fifty-eight people living under our roof.
Twenty seven single males share 18 beds, which means there are pallets on the floor and blankets on couches. In the family dorm, four families are sharing 3 rooms, and some of their children have to sleep on couches in the living area. Boy, do we need more space… Our twice monthly Charitable Medical Clinic will be held tomorrow night and we expect to be operating at or above capacity. 163 prescriptions were distributed from the pharmacy at the last clinic and based on calls to the mission we will see at least that many who need medication assistance again tomorrow. There are so many in need…
I recently read a quote by Anne Lamott that said “When you pray, you are not starting the conversation from scratch, just remembering to plug back into a conversation that’s always in progress.”
Please remember to “plug in” on behalf of the mission. What a blessing it would be if each person who reads this prays for Mission Outreach every day! Pray for those who come for food, shelter or medical care. Pray for the children who call this place “home”. Pray for the board and staff as we discern how to best serve the many who count on us in their time of need. And we will pray too.

I understand there was some pretty impressive music during dinner on Saturday as well!
