The flat tire and a prayerful request
Mike Woodside, one of our volunteers, smelled burning rubber while traveling back from Jonesboro with a trailer loaded with commodities recently. A flat tire! On a trailer loaded with frozen foods!! This could have resulted in disaster, but thanks to the help of several “angels”, the food supplies were delivered to the mission before they were ruined.
This was not an easy fix – the flat was actually the result of part of the trailer fender coming un-welded and bowing outward to the extent that it caused the weld to break and damaged the tire. We are extremely grateful to Hugh Owen, who came at the first call for help, Ivey Herren of Herren Tire Service, Larry at Gateway Tire in Paragould, Chris at Gateway Tire in Jonesboro, along Tony Bradley of Rodgers Chapel Road who gave of his time and utilized his welding equipment to help when it became clear we were in an emergency situation.
Obviously, we are in need of a new trailer. If you or anyone you know has 6 X 16 flatbed trailer in good shape that you would like to donate, please call the mission. This piece of equipment is essential to our ability to provide food for the many who come to us in their time of need.
It takes a lot of angels for Mission Outreach to fulfill its mission of housing the homeless, feeding the hungry and caring for the sick. Thank you for letting others know of this need. We trust God will provide another angel with a trailer in response to our prayerful request for help.
SOS (Soup or Salad) was WONDERFUL!
