Everyone has something to contribute.

God has given each of us the ability to do certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out when you have faith that God is speaking through you. If your gift is that of serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, do a good job of teaching. If your gift is to encourage other, do it! If you have money, share it generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. If your have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

Some of you support the work of the mission through your prayers and financial gifts. Some of you are dedicated volunteers, like John who comes in regularly to help at the front desk, Sue who knows the food pantry like the back of her hand, Al who gives his time to transport residents to appointments and Janice who comes to read and play with the children so mothers can have a few minutes to themselves. Several church groups participate in bible study and the Common Table. There is the well known high school football player who occasionally drops by to serve in the soup line during dinner…these are just a few who come immediately to mind. We all have the ability to contribute something. What is your gift? Might you have life skills to offer that could encourage and enrich the lives of others? Do you have time to offer a one hour class to those who desire to learn? Perhaps you could teach a personal finance or budgeting class… Maybe help someone learn to read… There are basic computer skills that could be taught, first aid or fitness and exercise, or grooming and personal hygiene, or cooking basics… the list goes on and on.

What do you have to contribute? Call Cathy at 236-8080 or 450-5111 and let’s see how God can use your abilities to be a blessing to those we serve.

We had to reschedule this event last February due to the ice storm, but we are back on for Saturday, October 3rd!

It’s not just another chili cook-off…

It’s a Chili Rodeo!

Dust off that old cowboy hat and hitch up your wranglers for some chili cooking and tasting, mechanical bull riding, line dancing, and karaoke singing to help raise funds for the homeless and hungry in Greene County and Northeast Arkansas . Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the B.C. Loyd Building on the Greene County Fairgrounds, the entire family will enjoy good food, music, fun and fellowship and help raise funds for Mission Outreach of Northeast Arkansas. The competition will be fierce, but fun! For information on how you can participate as a contestant, sponsor or for tickets to the best lunch in town, contact Heather at hparson@missionoutreachnea.com or 236.8080
