Current Statistics
Emergency Shelter Residents today: 41 6 children, 12 females, 23 males
Soup Kitchen Meals served to date: 17,076 Served since last week: 494
Food Boxes distributed to date: 2418
Medical Clinic patients this month: 45 To date: 556
Prescriptions filled this month: 82 To date: 1333
Individuals receiving financial assistance for utility, rent, transportation and prescription assistance: 417
Back at work after a couple of months off, I am strongly reminded of the incredible generosity of this community.
Last week we asked our readers to help provide indoor activity supplies for the ten children who were housed here. The response was such a blessing! Thanks to Charlotte Thompson, Debbie Smith, the Civitan Club and a couple of anonymous friends, we now have crayons, coloring books, building blocks, sing-a-long DVDs and several age appropriate movies for these hot summer afternoons. We also had folks like Roy and Joy Coble who came in with canned goods, spices, bags for the food pantry along with LOTS of macaroni and cheese!
Each week in the Wednesday Report we publish a list of needs and opportunities to serve. Matthew 7:7 tells us: "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Thank you for responding and meeting the needs of those we serve. You are an answer to prayer!
Needs for this week:
Small table and chairs for children’s use
Large rug for use during story time in library
Towels and washcloths for the women’s dorm
There are many ways you can help others through Mission Outreach.
You can serve food in the soup kitchen.
You can read to children.
You can be a volunteer driver, using the mission van to transport our residents to job interviews and appointments.
You can answer phones at the front desk.
You can make cookies or a cake to share with residents.
You can help shop on our weekly trip to the grocery store.
You can bring a class or small group to participate in The Common Table.
You can donate items from our needs list.
You can commit to be an annual supporter of the Mission with a monthly or annual gift.
