Have You Bought Your Tickets Yet For the Shel Silverstein Readers Theatre?
The Giving Tree: A Shel Silverstein Reader’s Theatre is a presentation of the Greene County Fine Arts Council which will benefit Mission Outreach of Northeast Arkansas. Shel Silverstein (1930-1999) was a poet, songwriter, and author of many wonderful books for children. They include The Giving Tree, Where the Sidewalk Ends and A Light in the Attic. Director Matthew D. Dalke has taken some of Silverstein’s most beloved works and created a setting for children and children at heart to entertain and to be entertained. Reader’s theatre uses minimal set design and costuming. While some pieces are memorized to better allow movement, the heart of reader’s theatre is interpreting the printed page through voice, attitude, and expression. The show’s date is Friday, June 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Collins Theatre on 2nd and W. Emerson Streets in Paragould . Admission is $6.00 with $1.00 of each ticket going to Mission Outreach. Tickets can be reserved by calling the Collins Theatre 870-236-6252 or can be purchased at the door on the night of the show as long as seats are available.
