As power was restored and individuals returned to their homes after the ice storm, replenishing freezers and pantries became a priority. Because of this, our food distribution has doubled in the last two weeks. Our soup kitchen has also seen an increase in the number of walk-ins (non-residents) as a result of food loss from the storm. Thank you to all who participated in Souper Bowl of Caring, those who took it upon themselves to purchase food knowing there would be a need, and to the temporary shelters who donated their leftover food after they closed. We are also grateful to so many of you that serve as spokespersons on behalf of the mission throughout our community…. Please keep up the good work!

Celebrity Waiter with a Mission !

This fundraiser, scheduled for Saturday, April 4th, is a dinner with local “celebrities” serving as waiters who can – and will – do almost anything for tips in order to raise as much money as possible for the mission. We are currently recruiting and training waiters and volunteers for the event. Want more information? Contact Patty Willoughby at patty.willoughby@ladarling or 476.6059, or Cathy Hughes at the mission.

Thank you to Eastside Baptist Church

for sponsoring the SOS (Soup or Salad) Luncheon last Friday!

 Prayer Requests

  • Tom, a 48 year old resident, had heart surgery last Thursday and remains in ICU with heart and lung complications. Please pray for him and the team of medical professionals that are caring for him.
  • As many of you know, we were approved to move into Phase II of our planning process to develop a new facility. One of our first activities is to identify land suitable for building. The primary challenge is to find land in from our service area but not in the flood plane. The foundation we are working with has the potential to build and furnish our new facility, however, land funds are not provided. We are looking for approximately 10 to 20 acres and ask you to join us in prayer that this land need will be met.
