Thank you for your support of Mission Outreach! Please feel free to forward this report to others who might be interested in our ministry. Current Statistics are not available at this time. We are all experiencing circumstances that make it hard to operate as usual! By next week we should be able to provide accurate service numbers. In the meantime, we hope all of you are back in your homes, warm and moving towards some sense of normalcy. We, like so many of you, are hard at work to help those hardest hit by the recent ice storm. While we were blessed with the ability to provide heat to part of our building and sustain our soup kitchen operations (we fed 298 people in one day alone), we sang loud praises when the power came back on. Many families continue to shelter with us; many others come just for meals. For some, needs are met by the provision of something as simple as a supply of drinking water (it’s not easy to comply with a boil order when you have no power to the stove) or a bottle of propane that will enable them to remain in the familiarity of their own surroundings. Once again, this community has shown its willingness to assist in meeting the needs of those who come to us for help. The Southern Baptist Convention Disaster Response Team has been very generous in providing food for our soup kitchen. The sheriff’s department delivered a hamburger meal to us last weekend. Island Energy is donating half the cost of propane refills for those who come to the mission seeking help though our benevolent services. So many of you have shared food, prayers and other resources! On behalf of all those we serve, thank you, thank you, THANK YOU… Prayer Request Tom, our 48 year old male resident with multiple cardiovascular problems, is waiting to hear from UAMS on whether he will be placed on a heart transplant waiting list. Meanwhile, we see his condition worsening daily. Tom has been a part of the mission family since September of 2008. Please continue to lift him up in prayer.
Be sure to mark your calendar for Saturday, February 21st from 11:00 to 2:00!
We are counting on you to join us for some chili cooking and tasting, mechanical bull riding, line dancing, and karaoke singing to help raise funds for the homeless and hungry in Greene County and Northeast Arkansas . This is an event you don’t want to miss!
February 1st, Super Bowl Sunday, was the national Souper Bowl of Caring event. We’ve heard from several of our local churches, youth groups, school and service organizations that were planning to participate, but were unable to because of the inclement weather. A couple of churches have mentioned moving their canned food drive to Sunday, February 15th. Remember that we’ll be happy to pick up your donations if needed. Contact Cathy at 236.8080 or chughes@missionoutreachnea.com for more information. Thank you again for your support of Mission Outreach!
